What we do >>

The university palliative care service

Runs a six day regular out patient consultation service: A trained medical officer and a trained nurse sit with the patient and the family on their first visit to assess the total need. The approach is holistic and more patients oriented than disease focused.

An 8 bed in-patient unit allows admitting patients for emergency symptom management or to allow patient to die or for respite care

The team also provides consultation for patients admitted under other disciplines and referred for palliative care advises.

Home Care service : Though not yet a part of the university service, the same activist group runs a limited and patchy home care service within 8 to 10 kilometer of the centre as and when necessary from benevolent funding.

Awareness creation programs include organizing events and publications and working closely with other organizations to ensure the widest possible dissemination of the concept of Palliative care in the country. You can request a speaker from BSMMU palliative care service for your group.
